HISTORY

A little back story . . .

Our parents, Louis and Grace D’Orazio, set an example for the D’Orazio siblings as we were growing up: help others. During our years at home, we frequently had people come to stay for periods of time. Usually, there was some crisis happening in their lives, like behaviorally acting out, drug usage, difficulty with parental relationships and the like. Most of these young people were drawn to Lou and Grace. Our parents were not missionaries, but rather a foreman in a large steel mill and a housewife, living out their Christian faith within the lives they were given.

This organization, Jacob's Ladder Special Needs Fitness, is a result of what we learned and what we saw from our parents as we grew up in our home as young people.

In addition, Karen and I have a special needs son named Jacob. Though there are many challenges, he has brought out the very best in us. Since Jacob was only months old, we have kept him physically active, starting in swimming and as he got older, adding other sports and fitness activities. We know this has made a very positive impact on Jacob, both physically and mentally. So, we try to push and encourage him as much as possible to continue and advance his physical exercise.

With the results we have seen in Jacob, coupled with our desire to help others, inspired us to start Jacob's Ladder Special Needs Fitness.

LORD, help us to

always do our

BEST.

~ Lou D’Orazio
